Cookie policy

If you're here to turn cookies off rather than read about them, every major browser lets you do it from its own settings menu:

Anything not listed here – check that browser's own help documentation, usually under a privacy or security heading. Blocking non-essential cookies is entirely your call; it just means less personalisation and no memory of your language preference between visits.

A cookie is a small text file your browser saves when you visit winzter-online.org.uk – it's how we remember settings, measure traffic and keep the Site running the way it should. We don't use cookies to collect anything beyond what's set out below, and this page is about our own Site only, not about anything Winzter's platform does with cookies.

Necessary

These keep basic functionality alive – page navigation, loading content correctly, remembering the choice you made in the cookie banner. They don't feed marketing in any way and clear themselves quickly.

Analytics

Tools like Google Analytics tell us, in aggregate, which pages get read, how long visits last, and where traffic comes from – nothing tied back to an individual.

Marketing

These support interest-based adverts and measure how well a campaign performed; they may track activity across different sites to build an interest profile, and you can switch them off without breaking anything else on the Site.

Preference

Small conveniences – remembering your language or layout choice so you don't have to reset it every visit.

Saying no, and what happens next

A banner appears on your first visit letting you accept or decline anything beyond the necessary cookies; you can revisit that choice at any time through the banner or your browser settings. Turning cookies off is entirely fine – some convenience is lost (your preferences won't be remembered), but the Site keeps working.

How long they last

Session cookies disappear the moment you close your browser. Persistent cookies stick around for a set period: roughly 12 months for necessary and preference cookies, up to 26 months for analytics, and around 13 months for marketing.

Third-party cookies

A few of the cookies here come from services we use – Google Analytics and advertising partners among them – each governed by its own privacy policy, which we'd encourage you to check. We don't control how those third parties handle their own cookies.

Changes

We may update this page as our tools or obligations change; the date below always reflects the latest version.
